Turn right at the Peio Fonti crossroads and after about 50 metres take the ‘Area Faunistica’ (wildlife area) trail on the left. The area itself can be visited, with its deer and roe deer held in semi-captivity, together with the Stelvio National Park visitor centre. At the SP 42, continue to Peio Paese, 30 minutes away, where it is possible to visit the Museo della Guerra Bianca (Museum of the White War) next to the parish church of Santi Giorgio e Lazzaro. Continue to the left of the church along the road for the Casanove area and the Baita 3 Larici, and from there back to Peio Fonti.

To the left of the first turn of Peio Fonti-Peio Paese provincial road (SP), take the surfaced road that leads to Lago Pian Palu, a well-known artificial lake located at 1790 m and fed by the waters of the upper Torrente Noce. After about 1 km this leads to the car-park of the Malga Frattasecca (Alpine dairy). Continuing on foot after about 100 metres, take the trail to the left that leads up to the Forte Barba di Fior, an Austro-Hungarian fortification dating from World War I.
