A WHOLESOME PASSION
Mountain farming has many essential characteristics that differentiate it from other agricultural activities that take place on the plains or in flatter areas. There are many limitations that characterize this type of farming: the horizon, a limited crop growing period due to the altitude and physical limitations due to accessibility. But the mountains don't just have limitations, they also provide many advantages. The climate, for example, maintains the organic materials of the soil and therefore soil fertility. Due to atmospheric temperature range and solar irradiance, products grown in mountain areas are guaranteed to have unique organoleptic properties. Vegetables, berries, officinal herbs, aromatic plants and flowers are grown throughout Val di Sole, while in the lower part of the valley you will find an important product that is mainly associated with the nearby Valle di Non: apples, more precisely, «Melinda» appleswhich are now well-known even on many international markets.
