Val di Sole, surrounded by spectacular mountain groups that include the Adamello Presanella, Ortles Cevedale, Brenta Dolomites and the Maddalene, is an area of rare natural beauty where all those who enjoy fishing can admire magnificent landscapes as they fish in over 120 km of rivers and streams and 20 mountain lakes that are filled with Marble and Brown Trout and Arctic Char.
In the Noce, Vermigliana, Meledrio and Rabbies streams and in the many lakes of the valley, fishing for rainbow, brown and marble trout plus precious Artic chars is a particularly pleasant experience.

AMATEUR FISHING PERMIT FOR TOURISTS

For all tourists who would like to fish while in Trentino, an amateur fishing permit (free of charge) was created in 2012 that replaces a government license. This permit can be issued in any one of the "Associazione Pescatori" (Fishing Associations) within the Province of Trento. With this special tourist permit, which is valid for 30 days starting from the day it is issued and can only be requested once a year, it is possible to purchase the fishing permit for the area in which the tourist has chosen to fish.

WHERE TO FISH?

FLOWING WATERS


NOCE RIVER - SECTION  A - from Malè to Mostizzolo
This stretch of the Noce River has the best characteristics: natural and deep riverbed, abundant flow, deep holes, strong current, large boulders. The population is made up of wild fish with natural growth: marble and brown trout and a hybrid of the two species.

NOCE RIVER - SECTION  B - from Fucine to Malè
This section has good characteristics: almost all natural riverbed, abundant flow, deep holes, strong current, large boulders. The population is made up of wild fish with natural growth: marble and brown trout and a hybrid of the two species.

NOCE RIVER - SECTION C - from Peio Fonti to Fucine
This section has good characteristics: low and clear water during the months of March, April, May and September. The population is made up of wild fish with natural growth: marble and brown trout and a hybrid of the two species. 


VERMIGLIANA STREAM - Vermiglio
It has an abundant water flow, sometimes subject to floods, with torrential characteristics. An embankment has been built along several sections while the natural riverbed is embedded in the remaining sections. The stream is almost exclusively populated by brown trout, both natural and stocked trout . Brook trout can also sometimes be found in this area. The best months for fishing with artificial bait are March, April, May, June and September, while natural bait is recommended during the warmer months. The stream can be easily accessed from several points.

MELEDRIO STREAM - Dimaro
Intact river bed, moderate – abundant flow, surrounded by a natural woodland area, water almost always clear makes this stream a true gem for fishing and for its natural landscape. Brown trout almost entirely populates this stream.

RABBIES STREAM - Rabbi
According to many, the Rabbiés is one of the best streams in Trentino. Natural riverbed, vegetated shores, clear water, not subject to flow fluctuations, the perfect environment for marble and brown trout. The area near the town if San Bernardo San Bernardo is a NO KILL fly fishing and mouse tail area and in certain areas fishing is banned.
 

ALPINE LAKES


LAGO PIAN PALÙ - Val di Peio
This large artificial reservoir, located 1.800 m  is populated by both native trout and adult trout that are stocked into the lake: brown trout, rainbow trout, brook trout. A 15 minute walk from the Fontanin area located near the town of Peio Fonti will take you right to the lake. Fishing is banned in the areas opposite the dam and there are signs that clearly indicate these areas.

LAGO BARCO - Vermiglio
A glacial lake at a height of 1.900 populated by native Arctic char. An enchanting lake thanks to its crystal clear waters and the forests that surround it, which can be reached with a 2 hour and a half walk from the location called Volpaia in Vermiglio.

LAGO DEI CAPRIOLI - Pellizzano
An artificial lake located at 1.300 m, stocked with rainbow and brown trout during the fishing season. Shallow clear water. The lake can be easily reached by car from the town of Pellizzano.

LAGHETTI DI MEZZANA - Mezzana
Two glacial lakes at a height of 2.000 m, inhabited by brown trout. Starting from Marilleva 1400, a 1 hour and a half walk will take you up to these two lovely mountain lakes.

LAGO DI SOPRASASSO - Val di Rabbi
A glacial lake at 2.240 m populated by Arctic char. The lake can be reached with a 3 hour walk with about 1200 m of elevation difference from the Valorz picnic area will take you up to the lake. A bivouac with a fireplace, which is always open, is located at the lake.

"LE MARINOLDE" NO KILL RESERVOIR


NK1 - TORRENTE RABBIES (STREAM) - Val di Rabbi
Clear waters all year. Water holes and small cascades in a natural alpine setting of rare beauty. The NO KILL zone of San Bernardo has been combined with a NO KILL zone further down the valley and separated. These 2 sections (for a total of 2,5 km) are reserved areas that must be booked for a max number of 4 fishermen per day. In the upper section of San Bernardo there are mainly Brown Trout that can reach a weight of up to 2,5 kg. In the lower section, where fishing was not allowed from 1986 to 2015, there is an increase of Marble Trout of a considerable size and genealogy.
 

NO-KILL ZONES


NK2 - TORRENTE MELEDRIO (STREAM) - Dimaro
1 km of clear water all year and a clear river bottom. Brown Trout up to 1,5 kg. In September, as trout move upstream along the Noce River, good sized Marble and Brown Trout can be found here.
NK3 - TORRENTE VERMIGLIANA (STREAM) - Vermiglio
1.3 km of clear water in spring and autumn, slightly cloudy in summer. Water holes between granite boulders and flat sections, host Marble and Brown Trout with a growth of up to 2,5 kg in the wild.
 

TROPHY ZONES


ZT1 & ZT2 - NOCE RIVER - Cavizzana - Pellizzano - Cusiano
1.3 km + 1.3 reserved for artificial fly fishing and spin fishing with the possibility to keep 1 trout that is longer than 50 cm. Waters are generally clear and slightly cloudy in spring and in September, cloudy in July-August. High average flow rate, large boulders, and the width of the river make it the perfect place for artificial bait techniques. Marble and Brown Trout can be found here, all sizes.
 

SAN LEONARDO "BIG FISH" ZONE


RT - TORRENTE VERMIGLIANA (STREAM) - Vermiglio
1.2 km with a special permit, with the possibility to keep 2 trout of the correct size. The fishing association guarantees a constant supply of Brown Trout up to 3 kg.

For sports clubs or associations interested in participating in fishing competitions, the Lago dei Caprioli lake in Pellizzano can host up to 80 competitors.
Several sections along local streams are also available upon request. The competition areas, even for NO KILL fishing with artificial baits, are homogenous for a length of 4 km.
